Gateway with W-Modbus- / W-BACnet module KYMASGARD® GW-WM

The KYMASGARD® GW-WM gateway with W-Modbus/W-BACnet (Wireless), in an impact-resistant plastic housing with quick-release screws, for surface mounting, serves as an interface between wired Modbus/BACnet and wireless W-Modbus/W-BACnet. Up to 100 devices can communicate with each other over long distances (up to 500 m in open space).
An electrically isolated RS485 transceiver is used on the wired side (bus parameters adjustable via DIP switches).

The simple setup of the wireless network and the connection stability allow for easy expansion of wired systems with wireless W-Modbus/W-BACnet sensors. Even mixed configurations of wired and wireless devices can be easily integrated into existing network topologies via this gateway. Depending on the device type, two operating modes are available for this purpose:

Gateway mode (master function) serves as a base station for up to 100 wireless participants.
The connection is made on the wired side of an existing bus topology or directly to a DDC/PLC (Modbus/BACnet).

Node mode (adapter function) serves as a wireless adapter for 1 wired device. The connection is made to the wired sensor and is used to connect to a wireless bus network (W-Modbus/W-BACnet). Node Pro mode (Type 'GW-WM Pro') extends Node mode to support up to 16 wired devices.

Thanks to innovative parameterization of the RS485 interface and the elimination of wiring, the entire wireless network can be preconfigured (pairing devices, configuring the gateway). This allows the network to be quickly and easily installed and put into operation at the destination. In app mode, the network setup can be verified and documented (PDF) using the Lumenradio W-Modbusapp or the W-BACnet app (Apple/Android), the network configuration can be verified and documented (PDF). Additional app features include installing firmware updates for the wireless module, changing device names, and detecting communication errors or duplicate addresses.
