Thermowells made of stainless steel or nickel-plated brass for temperature regulators ETR (Thor 2)
Uncompromising quality and safety are also top priorities for S+S accessories. That is why we use either nickel-plated brass or stainless steel for the metal thermowells of our
duct sensors. Brass consists mainly of copper and zinc, which give the alloy good formability and
machinability, mechanical strength, heat resistance and electrical conductivity.
Unlike conventional products on the market, however, our brass immersion sleeves are given an additional protective coating of nickel. This
ensures their permanent corrosion resistance in less aggressive media, from air and water to alkalis and diluted acids. At the same time,
the nickel layer prevents components of heat-conducting pastes from dissolving the copper and causing pitting.
Immersion sleeves made of stainless steel offer the highest level of corrosion protection. We have opted for VA 1.4571 or AISI 316 Ti, a
particularly high-quality austenite that contains titanium in addition to chromium, nickel and molybdenum. The alloy has proven its worth particularly in chemical
apparatus and instrument engineering, exhaust gas treatment and waste water treatment. Its corrosion resistance also includes chlorides or
salts and stronger acids, including hydrochloric acid (HCl).
